What gets deleted
| Data type | What happens |
|---|---|
| Account, email, display name, avatar | Erased after the 30-day grace period |
| Roster entries (shifts, dates, types) | Erased |
| Roster scan images | Already deleted within 24 hours of OCR, nothing left to remove |
| Group memberships | You are removed from every group you were a member of |
| Groups you created (if you are the only admin) | The group is deleted. If there are other admins, ownership transfers to them and the group continues. |
| Direct messages and group chat messages you sent | Erased. Other parties’ copies remain on their device; we cannot reach them because they are end-to-end encrypted. |
| Community Wall posts you authored | Erased |
| Comments you posted | Erased |
| Push notification token | Erased immediately on delete |
| Identity public key + encryption key backup | Erased (your peers will see “Locked message” for any unread DM you had with them) |
| In-app purchase / subscription | Your access ends at the next billing date. Apple / Google handle the refund process separately according to their own policies. |
What we keep (and for how long)
For legal and abuse-prevention reasons, a small set of records is retained for a defined period:
| Data type | Retention | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reports of abusive content filed against you (if any) | 1 year | Required by Apple / Google to prove enforcement of community guidelines |
| Crash logs containing your device identifier | 90 days | Anonymized hash; not linkable to your real identity once deleted |
| Anonymized financial records | 7 years | US tax law (IRS) |
What you should do before deleting
- Cancel any active subscription from your phone’s store settings (iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Android: Play Store → Subscriptions). Deleting the account does not cancel the subscription automatically.
- If you are the only admin of a group you want to keep alive, promote another member to admin first (Group settings → Members → long-press → Make admin). Otherwise the group is deleted with your account.
- Export anything you want to keep (Profile → Export my data → receive JSON within 30 days).
Changed your mind?
For 30 days after you tap Delete Account, simply sign in again with the same Apple ID, Google account, or email. The account is restored exactly as it was, including memberships and shifts. After 30 days, the deletion is permanent.
